Very good audience recording from Piteå Dansar & Ler 2000. This was the 10th aniversary of the festival in Piteå, a festival which is very special for Eric Bazilian. The Hooters did a concert there back in 1993 which was the best gig they ever did according to him (he's also claimed it to be the highlight of his carrier according to a swedish newspaper) and all the fans who was there that magical evening. Eric has returned several times to play at the festival, once with the Hooters in '95, and the other times on his own. This was his 6th performance there.

The main part of this gig was songs from Eric's new album "The Optimist". Some personal favourites for me on this live set is "Until You Dare" and "When I Was The Man" (I like the live version more than the album version). I wish he had played the title track from the new album, and also "Jacko The Juggler" and "Ugly", but I guess the time was too short for that this time. Instead he did an almost completely rearranged melancholic ballad-like version of "All You Zombies", which is the highlight of the concert, very very nice!! It shouldn't disappoint anyone who like the song, and it certainly didn't disappoint the Piteå-audience. He also did some other Hooters songs on request; "500 Miles" and "Johnny B." and he ends the show with the biggest hit he has ever written "One Of Us" - the Joan Osborne hit from 1995. It is a bit different than the version he did in Piteå '96, and this is also a very good one.

The band for this evening, "De Smutsiga Farbröderna" (a joke name Eric gave them: "the dirty old men"), was Glenn Goss on bass, Stellan Colt on drums, Truls Ström on guitar and also Eddie Nyström on guitar. Eric uses a different band in the US, only Glenn and himself remains in the swedish line-up. "Mother Mercy" is a song by Eddie Nyström and also sung by him at this gig. Eric only plays guitar on that song.

I made this recording myself standing just in front of the stage. The recording is complete except for 1 or 2 seconds from the beginning of "Mind Going Down". Excellent remastered sound. You can listen to a short MP3 sample from "All You Zombies". Available on one CD-R.
