This is a good audience recording of the Rory Kunkle show in Philadelphia 1996.
Fran Smith Jr. who was the bass player in the Hooters, has been performing under
his own name and under the name of his alter ego, Rory Kunkle. As Fran, he played
some solo acoustic shows and as Rory he performed with his new backup band, Smash Palace.
This is a "Rory Kunkle" show with Smash Palace and the small club suits the band well.
Mindy joined at "Blues Jam", a blues improvisation that had her alternating
harmonica & vocals (and a little wicked guitar from both Fran & his bassist at her
encouragement). Eric Bazilian was there to watch the show trying hard to blend in and
just stand with Sara and watch the show - but too many people in the crowd knew he was there.
Fran invited him up on stage and with about 50 rabid Hooters fans eyeing him speculatively,
he finally broke down and headed for the stage. Eric borrowed a guitar and after a quick
consultation they launched into a version of the Beatles' "Slow Down". This recording is
missing some seconds of the introduction of Eric just before the song. Eric didn't do more
songs with the band. Nice versions of "Money, "Bus Stop" and the blues jam for example.
Good sound. Available on one CD-R.
