The Sweeney Todd album "If Wishes Were Horses" is the first album where Bryan Adams appear. Made as early as 1977. The LP is of course extremely hard to find and out of print since long time. A re-release on CD came out in 1991 but is also out of print. According to Sweeney Todd's manager at the time, Martin Shaer, the LP includes the first three songs Bryan ever wrote; "Until I Find You", "Pushin & Showin'" and "Song For A Star". Before Bryan joined Sweeney Todd at an age of 16 (in 1976) he had only been in garage bands. The original singer and co-founder of Sweeney Todd Nick Gilder left the band seven months before Bryan joined (another singer called Clark Perry was the original re-placement, but was dumped in favor of Bryan). After Gilder had left the single "Roxy Roller" from the previous Sweeney Tood album "Sweeney Todd" became a big hit in Canada. In fact it later got a Juno Award (Canada's grammy) as canadian single of the year 1976.

Because of the song's success Bryan also recorded a version of "Roxy Roller", which was also released on a single in 1976 being his first ever record. It was however not included on the "Horses" album, but can here be found as a bonus track. Another bonus track is the b-side of "Roxy Roller" called "Rue De Chance" (another Nick Gilder composition). A song which, in my own opinion, is slightly better than other songs he did for this band. BA doesn't have such a "female sounding" voice on that song. Anyway this means that all 12 songs with Sweeney Todd that Bryan appear on are included here.

You can also find two other bonus tracks (#13 & 14) which is Nick Gilder's versions of two of the Sweeney Todd songs. This recording of "Roxy Roller" is actually a re-recording that Nick did for a solo album he released in 1977. The reason why I included these are that it can be interesting to compare the two versions.

And, last but not least, the songs are now in the original order as they were appearing on the original LP and single. Excellent sound. Available on one CD-R.
